My OPINION is choice of dies does not matter much (see target above again, I will refer to it a lot). Get RCBS, Hornady, whatever, they're all good. Lee Pacesetter 3-Die Set for .308 is $23 at Midway. Again, read the reviews. Buy some dies. Any dies.

For bullets I use. 308 155 Scenars, 170 Lapua Lock Base or 185 Scenars but 155.5 Bergers, 175 SMKs or 185 Bergers are also great. 338 I use either 250 or 300 grain Scenars but 300 SMKs are also great.

Consistent groups between 0.45 and 0.5 in at 100 yards and I can easily ring steel at 600 yards. Safe in my rifle, and within most loading books but always start low and work up. One of the rounds used during that test was the Lake City M118 Special Ball, which is the military version of a match cartridge intended for use in high accuracy weapons such as M14, M21, M24, and M40A1.

WEBNov 10, 2012 · Some Winchester brass, Federal #210 primers, IMR-4064 powder and some 175gr. Sierra Match King hollow point boat tail's. What I read suggested loading 42-43.5 grains of powder. Now, I have heard people talk about "faster burning" powder to optimize velocity with a 20" barrel. I have a Rem. 700 SPS Tactical with 20" barrel.

WEBNov 19, 2019 · Depending on one's loads, one should be able to get 5000 - 7000 through a .308 (a few people have reported getting over 10,000 through their .308). For a 6.5CM, you looking at something like 2000-2500 (maybe 3000 if your lucky and maybe on 1500 as many have reported, though the latter usually involves the hotter loads).

WEBFeb 4, 2016 · Federal Gold Medal match has consistently performed well in my Rem 700 PSS. Groups usually are 2/3's to 3/4 MOA at 100 yards and occaisionally I will get a group that is 1/2 MOA out of it. I agree that the FGMM 175 is among the best factory ammo for a .308 available. The term "available" is conditional though.

WEBApr 23, 2013 · Well, I've hit the wall, being out of IMR 4895 and Varget. Of course, I can't find powder anywhere. I do have a jug of 4831, which I used years ago for .300 win mag hunting loads. Obviously a slower burning propellant. I was wondering if I could use it behind 168 SMK's for a stop gap to keep me going until the retail powder market rebounds.

WEBApr 10, 2011 · I load my own and my favorite bullet is 175 grain Nosler CC. I use it over 44.6 grains of N150 with a wolf primer. and winchester brass. IN MY RIFLE it shoots as good as I can hold. If decide to try this load START LOW AND WORK UP. YMMV. .308 Howa 1500 w/24" heavy varmint barrel. .223 Howa 1500 w/24" heavy varmint barrel.

WEBDec 5, 2010 · I like Varget, IMR-8208-XBR, RL-15 and IMR-4064. From these 4 propellents, if you can't find an accurate load for any bullet weight for the .308 WCF, there is something wrong with your rifle or reloading technique.
