So the Trek hybrid is largely a sunk cost which presents little value (because you do not enjoy riding it) except as either (i) a $500 credit toward a new bike from Trek or (ii) whatever you can sell it for privately.

I preferred the red on the R800 over the R900 red … also preferred the fork color same as frame color (vs black fork on R900) so I purchased a R800 and replaced the down tube shifters with the Dual Control / STI shifters.

I recently rode with flat pedals for some short-ish rides because I needed to walk around in regular footwear instead of my usual 3-bolt road clipless pedals (I also have some SPD pedals but some of the riding was in the rain and none of my 2-bolt shoes are waterproof).
