WEBNo, the APU is a 15W TDP chip. The stock charger that comes with the Deck is a 45W charger. You can charge it with any charger capable of delivering 45W or more via USB-PD. It won't ever pull more than 45W, so using a 100W charger or something isn't going to hurt it.

With screen on it ranges from 30-40, though probably could max at 45W. 15V 3A is plenty, it rarely even hits 40W. anything over 45W is not necessary, but I'd just grab a new GaN charger that supports all USB PD outputs if you're searching. It will not use the full 87W. Still supporting more watts means you can charge your power bank faster, no you didn't wasted your money.

WEBAug 11, 2021 · Voltage is a bit wack cause lithium ion battery's run on 3.6 volts by default (depending on how charged or discharged they are they can range from 3.6 0% to 4.20 100% and they need to convert their voltage to 5 volts for usb. Usb standard voltage is 5v so the steam deck likely runs at that voltage.
