Comparing Vyond to Storyline is comparing apples to oranges. Two different types of programs. I use both, and love both. I came from the world of creating animations in Adobe Flash back in the day, then Adobe After Effects. Vyond is a god-send after using those. I wish it was a little more customizable for my needs, but it does the trick, and I think it's a blast to use.
I use Vyond daily to make corporate training videos as an instructional designer, I feel your pain and understand your question. Check out Adobe Character Animator, it’s pretty easy to use and involves some animation skills. There are other tools out there from r/reallusion that are amazing to use.
Vyond is great for training because it has a huge library of customizable characters with lots of prebuilt animations. You can create a fully animated scene with voice over in an hour, where as After Effects could take a full day to create the same scene from the ground up.
Vyond is the perfect example of why corporate L&D as a whole is in a bad place. The drive for engagement over cognition has paved the way for bells and whistles to be the focal point of learning. This is proof that real evaluation does not meaningfully exists in corporate America.
