There are many hikes in the Blue HIlls Reservation. The question asked is: is the hike up big blue conducive to a person carrying a five month old baby? The red trail up big blue is too steep and the dirt and stones too slippery for an inexperienced hiker to carry up a baby. A very experienced hiker with proper shoes might be able to do so. Be aware that it is very hot in the summer; you need water, rest, and proper shoes to do this hike. However, there are many many hikes in the Blue HIlls Reservation that are conducive to hiking with babies. You can take on smaller hills, and still get great views. I like Breeds HIll. May I suggest that you go to the ranger/state pollice station, and purchase a map for about $2. You can plan a hike from there. Bring water, wear sturdy shoes and a sun hat, and have fun.
