Cole worked on the album—his third studio LP—with producers Illmind, Phonix Beats, Vinylz, and Willie B, among others.

2014 Forest Hills Drive marked Cole’s third studio album, with production primarily handled by the artist himself alongside the likes of Illmind, Vinylz, Phonix Beats and Willie B. Despite the lack of pre-release singles and very little marketing, the record went on to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and received two GRAMMY nominations.
