It was DeBrusk’s first game against Boston after spending the first seven seasons of his career with the Bruins, who selected him with the No. 14 pick of the 2015 NHL Draft. The 28-year-old forward signed a seven-year contract with Vancouver as a free agent on July 1.

It’s not about how you do it sometimes. The Vancouver Canucks absolutely stole a result from the Boston Bruins last night, managing to get a 2-0 win off the back of an incredible performance by Kevin Lankinen.

DeBrusk gave Vancouver a 1-0 lead at 5:53 of the second period on a power play, sweeping in the rebound in front of the net after Garland deflected a shot by Quinn Hughes. The Bruins had three power-play opportunities down the stretch with a chance to tie the game, but failed to get past Lankinen.

The officials disagreed. The Canucks got a goal, the game’s only one until Garland’s empty netter. The Bruins were assessed a delay of game penalty and never produced a tying goal.

In Tuesday night’s game, Jake DeBrusk had a bit of an up-and-down night. He scored a power-play goal to give the Vancouver Canucks a 1-0 lead over his former team, the Boston Bruins.

The story of this game was Lankinen, who stood on his head in the victory. He made highlight reel saves and helped Vancouver capture their 11th win of the season despite being outshot 32-15. After some tough games earlier this month, it looks like Lankinen is returning to his early-season form, as he was unbeatable tonight in Boston.
