Elkins, 30, disappeared from her Warren, Mich., home on Jan. 2 after she stepped out to run errands. On Jan. 8, following a search of his home in nearby Roseville, Elkins’ ex-boyfriend DeAndre Booker was arrested on a charge of lying to authorities, Warren police confirmed to PEOPLE at the time.

Elkins' ex-boyfriend, De’Andre Booker, 32, of Roseville, was arraigned in Macomb County court this morning on a charge of first-degree murder; he was denied bond and remanded to jail, the report said. He was previously charged with lying to police related to Elkin’s disappearance. Booker is due back in court on Wednesday.
