Temperatures dipped below freezing in London on Thursday night (November 21) as Storm Bert took hold in the UK. Amber and yellow warnings for snow and ice have been listed by the Met Office for parts of the country this weekend.

Torrential rain doused most of the country, stymying travel and leading to flooding, landslides, fallen trees and power outages.

Major travel delays were reported across the United Kingdom on Monday after Storm Bert brought wind, floods, ice and snow over the weekend.

Much of Scotland has been battered again with high winds and rain as Storm Bert continues for a third day. The Met Office issued a yellow weather warning of rain for north west Scotland until midnight on Monday.

Another named storm is set to hit parts of the UK on Wednesday, bringing heavy rain and strong winds. Up to 50mm of rain is expected across southern England, including parts of south London, following the Met Office's issuance of a new yellow weather warning.

The UK has been battered by Storm Bert and more flooding is likely over the next few days, according to the environment secretary. Steve Reed chaired a meeting with the Environment Agency today to discuss plans to protect communities from further flood damage.
