Hundreds of millions of Americans will have the chance in March to see the first total lunar eclipse in nearly three years.

There are a number of compelling reasons to catch the looming March 13-14 total lunar eclipse, which will be visible in the entire lower 48 states and greater Americas. Perhaps the best one is that no two such eclipses are the same. That means, weather permitting, you'll witness something unique.

The next full moon, known as the Worm Moon, occurs Thursday, March 13, according to the Old Farmer’s Almanac. A full moon will appear full for a couple of days before it moves into its next phase, according to NASA.
