CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — CBS Sports has reported that North Carolina head coach Mack Brown plans to remain with the Tar Heels beyond the 2024 season.

Mack Brown is 44-31 in his second run as North Carolina's coach, and is telling recruits he will be back next season.

Despite widespread speculation that he would retire following the conclusion of the 2024 season, it seems North Carolina head football coach Mack Brown will be sticking around moving forward. According to a report from 247Sports' Matt Zenitz,

UNC Coach Mack Brown is 73 and in his second stint leading the Tar Heels’ football program. Brown coached the Tar Heels from 1988-97 before taking over at Texas from 1998-2013. The accomplished college football coach has a 113-77-1 record at UNC since coming back to Chapel Hill in 2019.

Brown is telling those close to the program, including staff members, players and recruits, that he plans to remain in Chapel Hill beyond the 2024 season, reports say.

Mack Brown will be returning to North Carolina's sideline in 2025. CBS Sports insider Matt Zenitz reported Wednesday that Brown is telling people around the university that he plans to coach the Tar Heels beyond this season.
