Scotland struggled to keep moving as Storm Bert swept in to deliver a cluster of snow, heavy rain and high winds. The Central Belt was particularly at at the mercy of the multi-hazard storm with large parts of the area waking up to snow and wintry conditions.

One person died as snow, rain and strong winds hit Britain, closing several roads, bridges and railway lines. The storm also caused floods in Ireland, cutting power to tens of thousands.

Storm Bert has transformed central and southern Scotland, under a blanket of snow. With some travel disruption, some children and dogs have been enjoying the cold weather.

Two amber warnings were issued as a "multiple-hazard event" hit the UK. Red alerts were issued for parts of Ireland.

Storm Bert is forecast to hit the UK on Saturday, bringing high winds, potential flooding and some snow. Disruption is expected over the weekend, with gusts of 40-60mph (65-96km/h) forecast in parts of Scotland, Northern Ireland, north Wales and northern England.
