It’s something of a historic moment for Netflix. Stranger Things isn’t the first popular show to air a big series finale on the streaming giant, but it’s one of the biggest and certainly the longest-running Netflix series to make it all the way to the finish line.
"Stranger Things" ended with a ratings splash, with its finale catapulting Season 5 to become Netflix's 9th most English-language series ever.
However, Netflix set the record straight to fans who were convinced the five season show wasn’t over. On Wednesday, the text in the bios of the official social media pages for “Stranger Things” reads “ALL EPISODES OF STRANGER THINGS ARE NOW PLAYING.” Despite the shows confirmed end, the universe of “Stranger Things” is expanding.
Netflix users spent 325.6 million hours watching season five last week — not counting those who went to movie theaters to watch the final episode on Dec. 31 and Jan. 1. The finale made an estimated $20 million to $25 million in revenue for theater chains over those two days.
