A high-level meeting was held at Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's residence on Saturday to review the situation as the police crackdown on rioters continued.

Uttar Pradesh Police have arrested 87 people in connection with communal violence in Bahraich, including those involved in the killing of Ram Gopal Mishra. Security is tight across the district.

In the case of violence in Bahraich, five arrested accused have been sent to 14-day judicial custody. Meanwhile, the administration has become fully active, and the Public Works Department (PWD) has issued notices to homes and shops with illegal constructions in the Maharajganj area.

The Uttar Pradesh Police on Friday continued its crackdown over communal violence in Maharajganj here as it held 26 more suspected rioters, taking the total number of arrests to 87, according to officials.
