Chandigarh: The ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Saturday won three of the four assembly seats – Gidderbaha, Chabbewal and Dera Baba Nanak – while the main opposition Congress snatched the Barnala seat from it.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) secured victories in three out of four assembly by-elections in Punjab, strengthening its hold in the state. The Congress managed to win one seat, while the BJP failed to secure any.

AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday termed his party's win in three out of four seats in the Punjab bypolls a "semi-final", asserting that the party is on course for another historic mandate in Delhi.

AAP is leading in Dera Baba Nanak, Chabbewal and Gidderbaha while Congress is leading only on one seat in Barnala. The BJP is at third position in all four seats. Notably, Congress won in Dera Baba Nanak, Chabbewal and Gidderbaha in the 2022 Punjab elections and AAP won in Barnala.

While Congress could only win Barnala, the AAP won Dera Baba Nanak, Chabbewal and Gidderbaha seats in the Punjab bypolls.
