A Massachusetts high school football player was hospitalized with a 'traumatic brain injury' following a 'disturbing' injury during a game on Thanksgiving Day, according to local officials.

The letter, from Sharon Public Schools Superintendent Peter J. Botelho and SHS Principal Kristen Keenan, said student Rohan Shukla experienced a “traumatic brain injury” during the game. Shukla, a sophomore, was injured during play and collapsed on the sidelines, the letter said.

Rohan Shukla underwent brain surgery, according to the crowdfunding page, which had raised more than $13,000 in just three hours, already exceeding a goal of $2,500.
