Gasoline prices hovered at their lowest level since 2021 heading into the July Fourth holiday. On Thursday, the national average price for a gallon of regular gasoline stood at $3.16 per gallon, according to AAA data.

For once, gas prices may be a relief for the more than 61 million travelers expected to drive for the July Fourth holiday weekend. GasBuddy has projected a national average of $3.15 per gallon, the lowest in four years.
