Indie screenwriter and director Jeff Baena has died at 47 years old. Representatives for Baena's wife, "Parks and Rec" star Aubrey Plaza," directed CBS News to a report of Baena's death by Deadline. His death was also confirmed to CBS News by the Los Angeles County Coroner's Office. The coroner's office reported that Baena died by suicide.

The co-writer of I Heart Huckabees and director of The Little Hours was found dead at a Los Angeles residence on Friday. The Los Angeles Police Department is investigating the case.

Aubrey Plaza has deactivated her Instagram account following the death of her husband, director and screenwriter Jeff Baena, earlier this month. Plaza hasn’t commented publicly about Baena’s death by suicide outside of a joint statement from her and Baena’s family to People that reads,
