Casey DeSmith came into Saturday's matchup with the St. Louis Blues carrying a modest save percentage of .905. The first year Stars goaltender would improve upon that number by stopping all 33 shots thrown his way.

ST. LOUIS (AP) — Evgenii Dadonov had a goal and an assist, Casey DeSmith stopped 33 shots in his second shutout of the season and the Dallas Stars beat the St. Louis Blues 2-0 on Saturday night.

Brandon Saad spent less than an hour as a free agent, joining the Vegas Golden Knights fresh off the St. Louis Blues terminating his previous contract. Saad signed a contract Friday for the remainder of the season that’s worth a prorated $1.5 million. It came together just after he cleared unconditional waivers.

The star defenseman will likely be out for months, if not the rest of the season. Expect the Stars to struggle in his absence, and to have a much better understanding of their roster when he returns.
