The Justice Department ordered the Drug Enforcement Administration to halt random searches of passengers at airports and other transit hubs after a watchdog raised concerns.

The Department of Justice (DOJ) has stopped random Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) passenger searches at “mass transportation facilities,” such as airports, as of Thursday after the department’s inspector general found concerns with how such searches were being conducted.

Officials in the Justice Department, which oversees the DEA, ordered that the searches be suspended pending an internal evaluation.
