Starfleet Academy has been renewed for Season 2 at Paramount+ while Season 1 is still in production. The early renewal was announced by executive producer, co-showrunner, director and franchise boss Alex Kurtzman on a livestream from the show’s Toronto set during the Star Trek universe panel at New York Comic-Con on Saturday.

The first season of the next series in the Star Trek franchise, Starfleet Academy, is now filming in Toronto, but we shouldn't expect to see it until at least 2026. That hasn't stopped Paramount+ from making a surprising decision regarding the series.
