Superman director and DC Studios boss James Gunn has weighed in on claims "the studio" is unhappy with the movie's teaser trailer making it clear yet again that Warner Bros. is basically a non-factor.

DCU’s Superman premieres in the US on July 11, 2025, and there is already huge buzz around the movie. Recently, James Gunn, the director of the movie and co-head of the DCU, confirmed that he hosted a special screening of Superman.

Though the DC Universe starts its film side with Superman, James Gunn says that audiences don't need to see Batman and Superman's origins again.
