Hurricane forecasters are watching a new potential storm as the Atlantic hurricane season motors past its halfway point. So far, the season hasn't logged an exceptional number of storms, despite early warnings of a hyperactive season.

The next tropical storm could come from a slow-spinning system in the northern Caribbean, according to the National Hurricane Center.

We are continuing to watch an area of low pressure that will try to develop this weekend or early next week in the northwest Caribbean. The National Hurricane Center says some slow development of this system is possible over the western and northwestern Caribbean Sea.
