Classic 'Doctor Who' episode 'The War Games' has been colourised. The seventh episode of the sixth series of the BBC sci-fi programme - which marked the final appearance of the Second Doctor (Patrick Troughton) - originally aired in black-and-white in April 1969 but has now been remastered in colour and will air on BBC Four just days before Christmas.

Airing on the BBC on December 23rd, Doctor Who classic "The War Games" is getting a colourised 90-minute cut with interesting new additions.

The BBC has announced that it will released a new 'colourised and enhanced' version of the classic Doctor Who story The War Games, which first aired in 1969, later this year

Not only that, but this new version of the serial will feature a 'lost' piece of Doctor Who history – while the Second Doctor's regeneration into the Third Doctor (Jon Pertwee) originally took place off-screen, the special edition of The War Games will depict the changeover on-screen.

The announcement comes on Doctor Who Day, which marks 61 years since the first broadcast on November 23 1963. The BBC has been celebrating the anniversary with special messages from current Doctor Ncuti Gatwa, as well as Bridgerton star Nicola Coughlan, who will appear in the 2024 Christmas special.
