Roughly 325 people gathered on Medina Square July 17 to make their voices heard and to celebrate the life of civil rights activist and U.S. Congressman John Lewis.

The nationwide " Good Trouble Lives On " rallies, hosted in several cities to carry on the legacy of late Georgia congressman and civil rights leader John Lewis, aligned with the five-year anniversary of Lewis' death and honored his trademark practice of using non-violent protest as a catalyst for change — a civil act he coined as "good trouble."

The Wake County Democratic Party held a rally mainly opposing House Bill 958 at 5:30 p.m. at Halifax Mall. At 6:30 p.m., some 150 protesters marched to the state Capitol and joined about 150 others at a rally organized by the 50501 Movement and the NC Poor People’s Campaign.
