At least 15 people in Minnesota have been sickened by E. coli poisoning tied to a national recall of more than 167,000 pounds of potentially tainted ground beef, federal health officials said.

At least 19 Minnesotans fell ill from E. coli linked to a national recall of over 167,000 pounds of ground beef. Restaurants across Minnesota were affected, and four cases required hospitalization.

The recall has been initiated by the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) after the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) linked more than a dozen E. coli sicknesses to burgers served at Red Cow locations and the downtown Minneapolis restaurant Hen House Eatery.

Wolverine Packing Co. of Detroit is recalling 167,277 pounds of ground beef products after multiple people who ate at Twin Cities restaurants became ill.
