While heart conditions aren’t uncommon among hockey players, New York State currently does not mandate cardiac screening for high school athletes.

More than seven months after Connor died, Mary and Craig Kasin now hope a new bill passes that would require annual heart exams for student athletes in New York public schools.

The Massapequa varsity hockey team held a memorial for fallen team member Connor Kasin on Sunday, Jan. 26 at Bethpage Ice Rink, where they retired Kasin’s number, 37.
