Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, and Kamal Haasan-starrer Kalki 2898 AD is the highest-grossing Indian film of the year.

The sequel of 'Kalki 2898 AD' is all set to go on the floor in 2026. At the same time, the makers have shared a big update on the film and Deepika Padukone's character.

Nag Ashwin's Kalki 2898 AD was recently showcased at the 55th IFFI, where producers Priyanka and Swapna Dutt revealed Deepika Padukone's role in the sequel. The film will release in Japan in January 2025.

Nag Ashwin's magnum opus Kalki 2898 AD, starring Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Deepika Padukone and Disha Patani among others, scripted history by becoming the fourth-highest-grossing Indian movie.

Directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Nag Ashwin, the film stars Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, and Amitabh Bachchan. Set in a dystopian future, the story follows Kalki, the modern avatar of the Hindu god Vishnu, as he descends to Earth to battle evil forces.

Adding to the buzz, Kalki 2 will mark Deepika Padukone’s return to the silver screen after she welcomed her first child earlier this year. Interestingly, Padukone was pregnant while filming Kalki 2898 AD, in which she portrayed a mother.

There have been reports that the sequel of the movie will begin filming next year. When asked about the same, Swapna said, "We still haven't locked the dates but we will soon announce."

Kalki 2 producers Swapna and Priyanka Dutt talked to the reporters at the ongoing IFFI Goa on Saturday, and mentioned how they have already shot around 35 per cent of the second part. The makers ensured that they are going to announce the new shoot schedule soon.
