A newly formed depression in the Caribbean could enter the Gulf of Mexico as Tropical Sara next week, potentially reducing the chances it could pose a threat to Florida later in the week.

MIAMI - The lower and middle Florida Keys are under a tropical storm warning as Hurricane Rafael is forecast to grow steadily on a path for Cuba, where it's expected to arrive on Wednesday. A tropical storm warning is also issued for portions of Cuba. A hurricane warning is in effect for parts of Cuba.

Once the storm enters the Gulf of Mexico, it’ll run into wind shear, drier air and slightly cooler waters, allowing it to further weaken as it approaches Louisiana by Saturday. This will be a low impact storm for our area.
