The Distortus rex is introduced during a flashback sequence at the very start of Jurassic World Rebirth, where there’s a “containment failure” at the InGen research facility on Ile Saint-Hubert, thanks to a rogue candy rapper.

The mutadon is a hybrid dinosaur said to have been created by scientists on Ile Saint-Hubert during dinosaur experimentation. The animal is a combination of a raptor and pterosaur — the type of dinosaur pterodactyls descend from — and comes in at 16 feet long, 550 lbs. and over six feet tall.

That remains true in “Jurassic World Rebirth,” though at this point in the story, public interest in any dinosaurs has waned considerably. So, in the new film, there is simply an island near the equator where the remaining dinosaurs live — it’s literally the only place with a climate they can survive.
