The blaze in the park, at the northern tip of Manhattan, followed brush fires that burned in Brooklyn, the Bronx and New Jersey over the past week.

Firefighters battled a two-alarm blaze in Prospect Park late Friday, as the city remains under a drought watch. The New York City Fire Department received a call at around 6:40pm about a brush fire on Nov. 8, according to a FDNY spokesperson.
