A strong earthquake has struck Japan’s north-central region of Noto that’s still recovering from a deadly quake early this year

Earlier on 1 January 2024, a 7.6 magnitude earthquake struck the Noto region, killing more than 370 people and damaging roads and other infrastructure.

Earlier in January, a stronger 7.2 magnitude quake hit the Noto region of Japan. The tremors led to significant damages to roads and infrastructure while 370 people were killed.

A 6.4 magnitude earthquake struck off the west coast of Japan's Ishikawa prefecture on Tuesday, the country's meteorological agency reported. The earthquake, which occurred at 1347GMT, had an epicenter at a depth of 10 kilometers (6.21 miles).
