Back in the 1990s before coming out with its own crossover, the CR-V, Honda offered the first-generation Passport, a rebadged Isuzu Rodeo that was a legit body-on-frame SUV. Since then, the Japanese brand has mainly stuck to crossover-y models that aren’t focused on off-roading,

The most obvious indication of this is the design that in many ways harkens back to the 1997-2002 second-generation model that was built by Isuzu. The new Passport has a chunkier, more squared off design with a flatter, longer hood, slightly more upright windshield and similar kick-up at the beltline toward the back of the rear doors.

This is the all-new 2026 Honda Passport: a rougher, tougher, and squarer take on the popular mid-sized SUV. Honda has been touting this as its most capable SUV ever — but, if we’re honest, that’s not the boldest claim out there, with the Japanese automaker not known for its mud-plugging off-roaders.
