Sunrisers Hyderabad opened their account with the buy of Indian pacer Mohammed Shami for Rs 10 crore on Day 1 of the IPL 2024 Mega Auction in Jeddah on Sunday. They added Indian all-rounder Harshal Patel for Rs 8 crore.

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) spent Rs. 75 crore from their total budget of Rs 120 crore on retaining five players and have a purse cap of Rs 45 crore to spend to fill 20 vacant slots at the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) mega auctions.

However, SRH does have an IPL trophy which they managed to win in 2016 beating Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the final. Teams are allowed to retain a maximum of six players and have an overall allotted budget of Rs 120 crore for the retention as well as mega auction.
