The Los Angeles Dodgers locked up one of their fan favorites and postseason heroes on a five-year, $74 million contract extension Friday.

Edman, 29, went 11-for-27 (.407) with one home run, three doubles and 11 RBI in the Dodgers’ NLCS win over the Mets and won NLCS MVP honors.

The Los Angeles Dodgers made the first big splash of MLB free agency, poaching All-Star starting pitcher Blake Snell from the San Francisco Giants and beating out the Baltimore Orioles and Boston Red Sox in a bidding war.

Snell, 31, will join a ridiculously talented Dodgers rotation in 2025 that includes Tyler Glasnow, Yoshinobu Yamamoto and two-way phenom Shohei Ohtani, with Clayton Kershaw also expected to re-sign with the team and suit up at some point.

Indeed, the Dodgers have become such a desirable location that players are structuring contracts to ensure the team remains one. Shohei Ohtani famously took a salary of $2 million annually while deferring the rest of the biggest contract in the history of North American sports.
