Major League Baseball's annual awards week continued on Tuesday with the Manager of the Year announcements. These awards are based solely on regular season happenings -- ballots are even cast before the playoffs begin.

MILWAUKEE, Wis. (WSAW) - Brewers manager Pat Murphy getting recognized for his guiding hand that helped lead Milwaukee to a division title. Murphy was named NL Manager of the Year by the Baseball Writers Association of America on Tuesday. Murphy earned 27 of the 30 first-place votes for the honor.

The Cleveland Guardians skipper was named the winner of the award on Tuesday, beating out finalists Matt Quatraro of the Kansas City Royals and A.J. Hinch of the Detroit Tigers in an all-AL Central affair. Just like in the division standings this year, the Guardians came out on top.

“Pat Murphy led our team with an undaunted presence that resonated throughout the clubhouse from the first day of spring training and into the postseason,” Brewers Vice President and General Manager Matt Arnold said. “His steady leadership was a major factor in the team’s success in 2024 and we could not be happier for Murph and his family.”
