Microsoft may have accidentally confirmed that Windows 11 24H2 (Windows 11 2024 Update) is arriving on September 24 as part of the optional preview update, with it rolling out to more people as part of the mandatory October Patch Tuesday updates.

File Explorer is also getting some improvements as part of the Windows 11 version 24H2. In this updated version of the file manager, Microsoft is rolling out changes to the context menu, tabs system, file management for archive formats and ".png" files, and a few other tweaks.

As expected, Microsoft will begin broadly shipping Windows 11 version 24H2 to customers in October after a preview release next week.

Confusion arose earlier this week when a Microsoft representative published an official forum post announcing that the next "annual Windows 11 feature update release" will roll

Windows 11 24H2 is not coming out next week. The update was originally planned for late September or early October.

The Redmond-based company has Blog post revealed the launch date for the upcoming Windows 11 24H2 update. The feature update will initially be available on September 24, 2024 as an optional preview for early adopters. The official release will then take place on October 8, 2024 as part of the monthly Patch Tuesday rollout.

Update rolls out some additional improvements for the printing experience, including the Protected Print Mode and options to pause jobs and rename your printer directly from the Settings app.
