In the original game, I breached a score of 300,000, which was apparently stored as "Luigi's High Score" in the game, and I got the message that I unlocked The Lost Levels and it was one of the greatest moments.

SMB2US and SMB2JP are both pretty important to the evolution of the series but neither feel like a great sequel to SMB1 like SMB3 does.
